Our focus
We’re one of the leading TowerCo’s in Hungary, with the second largest market share by number of sites.
Gergő played a very important role in the Liberty/UPC Integration and upon joining Vodafone he successfully positioned Vodafone Hungary at a very high level in the eyes of external stakeholders, government and decision makers. During the COVID crisis, thanks to his strategic EA actions, Vodafone Hungary was able to differentiate itself from other competitors.

Budapest is not only the capital city of Hungary, it is also its financial and business centre, accounting for 39% of the national income and over 25% of the population.
The city was at the forefront of Hungary’s strong economic growth in the years immediately prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, when employment nationwide was at a new high.
In 2021, Vantage Towers Hungary built two distributed antenna systems (DAS) for Hungary’s latest multi-functional arenas – MVM Dome and Pick Arena – in Budapest and Szeged. Both arenas served as prime venues for the 2022 European Men’s Handball Championship.
While preparing for the championship, the biggest challenge was meeting the short deadlines. We agreed with BMSK, the state-owned developer agency, to start building the DAS sites in August 2021. This meant we only had three months to collect the MNOs’ needs, plan, and then implement the project. Implementation wasn’t easy since all the other tasks had to be finished in parallel; however, both DAS sites were ready in time for the official handover of the two arenas, with three active MNOs.
Both DAS sites exceeded expectations and performed well – with a full house respectively – during the championship.
In a first of its kind, Vodafone Hungary – our top-tier customer – granted 40MHz of its 3500 MHz spectrum to the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in October 2020.
This initiative is expected to enable the build out of a private 5G network for educational and R&D purposes, with Vantage Towers being involved in the roll-out of the passive network.
As wages grow and other transformative changes are ushered in, in part, by next-generation connectivity infrastructure and technologies, the economy should see increasing productivity gains. This is vital for a market that, despite being relatively small in terms of land area, is the 36th largest export economy in the world.
The economy continues to be driven largely by industry (25.9%), wholesale and retail trade, transport, accommodation and food services (18.5%) and public administration, defence, education, human health and social work activities (16.8%).
